HIV/AIDS PROJECT

Legal Aid Service of Broward County's HIV/AIDS Project provides assistance in the following areas:

  • Estate Planning, including Advance Directives (powers of attorney, health care surrogates, living wills, trusts and pre-need guardianships) and Last Will and Testament
  • Public Benefits
  • Bankruptcy Proceedings
  • Denial of access to housing or eviction due to HIV status
  • Discrimination or breach of confidentiality litigation as it relates to services eligible under the Ryan White CARE Act

Services under this project are provided by both Legal Aid Service of Broward County (LAS) and Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida.(CCLA).

Eligibility:

  • Broward County resident
  • Household income which places the client under 300% of the federal poverty level (FPL)
  • Documentation of HIV status

 

Certified referrals from other Ryan White agencies and case managers are accepted.

Intake:

  • New clients may complete applications on Wednesday, noon to 5:00 p.m. on a first-come-first-serve basis at Legal Aid' s office, 491 North State Road 7, Plantation, Florida, or
  • Call Legal Aid's office at 954-765-8950 to schedule an appointment.
  • In extraordinary circumstances, home visits can be arranged.
