Broward Human Rights Initiative (BHRI) is a program that provides legal protection for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) community in

Social Justice
BHRIs mission includes a commitment to promoting understanding and acceptance of GLBT people by educating the public and legal community about discrimination and promoting fair treatment through progressive public policy. Discrimination of persons in specific protected categories is made unlawful by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This act was amended and augmented by the Broward County Human Rights Act, which extends the prohibition of discrimination of protected classes to include sexual orientation. We seek to advance the legal and human rights of GLBT persons throughout the community through:
Impact litigation
Public policy advocacy
Public education
Collaboration with other social justice organizations and activists
Direct legal services

· Provide legal services to individuals facing discrimination based on
